For sale on behalf of owner
Bella is a 16.2 approx TB 6yo mare with a huge future as an elite performance horse ahead of her!
Bella is a big, beautiful type with an elegant uphill neck. She is pretty enough to stand out in the show ring but talented enough to succeed in any of the olympic disciplines.
Prior Experience and Results
With a previous owner Bella has limited competition experience and has had a few cross country schooling outings. Her current owner has been focusing on dressage and show jumping training at home through COVID, and the occasional trail ride.

We have found Bella to have a really sweet temperament with generally good ground manners and to be very genuine and trainable under saddle. She is very willing to learn, and a quick learner so has progressed so much in a short time training here with us. She has been consistently good on the arena during her schooling and equally well-behaved out on the local trails and roads around our farm.
Bella has exceptional pace for a Thoroughbred. She is very active behind in the trot with great swing and push. When she connects she has a very floaty feeling, and is very soft over the back so is easy to sit on even at these early stages of her training. I can only imagine how amazing her paces are going to develop over the next 6-12 months. She has a huge ground cover in both trot and canter and shows a great range with a natural ability to collect and extend her body.
Dressage Training
Rhythm - Bella is forward off the leg without feeling hot and moves off each leg well so is starting to develop a secure inside leg to outside rein connection
Suppleness - Bella bends better to the left so needs a secure outside rein to make sure she doesn’t fall out through the right shoulder. She is straighter on the right rein but still needs more consistent bend through the right ribcage.
Contact - Bella does need someone with soft and steady hands as she is still developing stillness and connection in the hand. We feel she will be very good in the contact with further training but for now, at the start she can feel a little light and inconsistent until you make transitions, turns and changes of bend to get her to feel more weight in the reins. It doesn’t take much to get her there, and when she is there, she feels amazing.
Laterals - She has begun schooling the basic lateral work leg yeild, shoulder-in etc and takes to it well
Balance - She likes to stretch and reach into a long, low frame which is nice, and doesn’t tend to lean too much. She can carry herself in balance already.
Bella is confidently jumping 80-90cm here with us . She is a naturally talented jumper, and is very careful. She can be a little looky when you start jumping new fences but she hasn’t done a lot of jumping so this will resolve as she gets more confident. Even when looky, she is generally willing to give the scary jumps a go. We have jumped her over a variety of fill with no issues. She has tidy toes, and a decent back end for a Thoroughbred but would benefit from more gymnastic schooling over fences (bounces, grids, pole work etc) to further develop her shape over the fence. She is rideable between fences and so athletic over a fence. We can really see her climbing the eventing levels with the right rider and being a machine over big cross-country!
Rider Suitability
Bella has a good foundation of basic education and is ready to embark on her competitive career as a promising young performance horse with star potential. She is green in some ways, and a big horse that can occasionally be sensitive so will look to her rider for reassurance but in the right hands this horse will absolutely excel. She is not suitable for beginners, or nervous riders and we feel she would be best with an intermediate + rider to really help her realise her potential. She is a serious enough prospect for a professional/serious amateur event rider to pursue. Although we think she has serious potential to be an event horse, she is versatile and pretty enough to show, has enough movement to excel in the OTT classes at Boneo, clever enough over a fence to showjump and sensible enough to hack out.
