♥ Denbeigh Royal Court AKA Darcy ♥

Darcy will be at the following shows:

  • Griffith (06/10/19)
  • Leeton (11/10/19)
  • The Rock (19/10/19)

This is an ad that will be completely honest as I want him to find a forever home! Please feel free to ask questions.

Darcy is a 9 year old, 14hh Australian pony, although he could be a little taller. Darcy I would class as an all-rounder, been there and done that, type of horse. He has been to shows, gymkhanas; trail rides, the beach, the outback, and now lives on a cattle and sheep property in the Riverina area. (He will be started on cattle if not sold this year).

Darcy’s knowledge:

  • very soft mouth
  • can fly change
  • simple change
  • canter from a halt
  • pick up extension
  • side passage
  • Vocally trained (walk, trot, canter)
  • carries himself well
  • He also loves to jump
  • enjoys sporting events

I’ve only jumped him around 50cm as I am too big to go any higher on him, I lunge him over jumps roughly a metre high. He is good to trim/shoe, wash, rug, loves to swim in dams, good to worm, and full body clip (shakes his head when doing his ears – must tickle him). Darcy likes to play games when floating; one day he will self-load, the other, he will need rope tied to the side as though you’re going to use it to push his butt in (but never actually need to use it). As soon as that rope is tied he will run on. He has a very strange personality but MY GOD he is by far the funniest horse I’ve ever come across. Will be the hardest sale!

Darcy was left without work for a whole year as I traveled to the Northern Territory, the first ride back he didn’t bat an eyelid, just very eager! However, when he was left he was only fed hay. After the first ride back, he was left for another few weeks and fed a lot of hard feed. The first ride whilst being fed the hard feed, he did show signs of “girthy behaviour” and threw pig roots in his canter (I do firmly believe this is due to the feed). From this I would not class Darcy as a beginner or a child’s pony; he needs a confident rider, mainly to ensure that he doesn’t get it over the rider. I’ve never had the issue. – the girthy behaviour was the first time I experienced over the 5 years of owning him.

I’m looking for a forever home and by that I mean, I don’t want him to find a home that have a heavy set of hands! We recently had a friend over riding (another horse) and her younger sister (aged 11 – slightly nervous) was playing with him in his paddock – no halter or lead was used. Darcy will try everything you ask him too, that’s why I love him so much! He is fine to ride around motor bikes, dogs, sheep, cattle and traffic. He is often ridden alongside a highway and he does not care.
