The perfect partner for the adventurous child who loves to zoom-zoom!
Midnight, approx 10, mixed pony breeding, is ready for his forever home. He is forward moving, can go from 0-100 pretty darn quick, so NO nervous nellies, NO beginners, NO inexperienced homes. He has NO rear or buck or bolt that I have experienced but loves to zoom! He can be tight-backed if not ridden for a while so would need a rider that doesn't baulk at this.
He has come from a home with beginner children, and while he loves his small humans, he finds the responsibility a little too overwhelming. He would be ok with a real go-ey teenager/smaller adult and their younger sibling/kids of a similar attitude.
He has attended riding club, freshmans showjumping, been out on the trail, ridden through water.. BUT he can be unsure so needs a confident capable human to ride him, not a passenger. Rides around the farm like an old pro, leads off the quad, but can be unsure if things suddenly have moved or look different. If you approach these moments with confidence and assuredness he is all good.
He handles competition atmosphere really well, doesn't baulk at larger horses near him or riding towards him, even jumping, he is great in a warmup ring!
I have put him on cows and tried out basic games, he shows a lot of promise there. Suit games, eventing, show jumping, trick riding, teaching tricks to (he has a wicked sense of humor), plus barrel racing, cutting, team penning etc etc. He is very sporty and athletic and needs his brain to be stimulated and engaged.
Pro's? Keep's his fitness, can gallop the house down, loves to jump (confidently see's a stride and can seriously jump) and very surefooted. Once he knows how to do something he really knows it. Pretty much self-loads on the float. Barefoot and runs on the smell of an oily rag. Thrives on consistent work. Keep on his own or in a herd, he doesn't care. Heaps of personality and will love you if you love him back :) PC multi-purpose hero
Con's? Cannot cope with being forced into a "frame", but does round nicely, is really indifferent about riding endless circles however is ok with basic dressage movements like legyielding and turns on forehand, can get strong in the hand if you want to hang on him (but YES has good brakes). Not a "pull out once a month and ride" kinda guy.
I see him being competitive in the right hands. I am realistically too big to take him any further, however everything I have thrown at him he has handled really well. Like I have said above and multiple times in this ad, he needs a RIDER, not a passenger.
More photos and video to come. He is currently in moderate fitness work (thanks winter!) and paddocked with his giant warmblood bestie. It is a tough sale for his owners so genuine inquiries only, we want a forever home for this little cutie. Price slightly neg, home is not!
