Jasper is an absolutely striking 9yo WB gelding
around 16hh (unmeasured). He is by Manetheren Aragorn (Australian WB with Alabaster lines) out of Daisy (Weltmeyer X TB)
Type
Jasper is an eye-catching type, with his stunning colour and modern, athletic build. He is definitely on the finer side for a 3/4 WB so will not be suitable for those looking for a chunky horse. He is naturally uphill and balanced.
Temperament Jasper is a serious athlete and performance horse prospect but he is still green and requires further education so will be best suited to a capable rider. Although he is generally very sensible, and straightforward to ride, we would like to see him go to an intermediate + rider who can really establish him as a competitive dressage/show horse and help him reach his potential over the next 12 months. He has shown excellent ground manners here with us, been very well behaved on the arena, a tiny bit spooky at times but nothing serious. We have hacked him out the front and he was a good boy, a little excited at times but shows promise in this area too.
Paces
With Jasper’s exceptional breeding, it is no surprise he is a good mover. He has exceptional paces. He has a lovely canter, a flashy trot and clear, active walk. He really has the movement to excel in dressage, and the talent to progress up the levels with wow factor.
Dressage Training
Rhythm - Jasper maintains an amazing regular, consistent rhythm once you get him forward. He can take a bit of kicking to get him in front of the leg but once he’s there, he feels amazing. He is definitely more woah than go.
Suppleness & Contact - He is wiling to bend both ways and understands inside leg to outside connection. He is better with his lateral suppleness, but still learning to stretch down and seek the contact in a secure long and low frame. We feel that it is important his training focuses on this area over the next few months to help him develop the correct strength for upper level dressage. He is happy to sit in a frame, but prefers a working frame, and he is starting to become more elastic which will help him let go off his back further, reach for the bit and move with his whole body. When he is really established in this, he is going to a seriously nice horse.
Laterals - Jasper is working at a prelim level on the flat and training some basic laterals like shoulder-in and leg yeild. The focus is really on getting him more consistently forward to a lighter leg aid, and then all the doors will open to all the more difficult dressage work!
Jumping
Jasper doesn’t really show a lot of talent for jumping at this stage and we would prefer to see him in a dressage home where he can excel in the discipline he has the most talent for. He is willing to have a go, but isn’t super careful, and is still quite clumsy/awkward over the fences.
Rider Suitability
Jasper is a rare opportunity to secure a coloured dressage warmblood. Although he is a bit older for his level of experience, he has the talent to really progress and would excel with a competent, ambitious trainer willing to continue his training and help him achieve his true potential as a dressage/showing star.
