Willy aka Wild Starr is a 4yo (28/9/19) full WB gelding currently standing around 16.2/16.3hh (unofficially) by Wild Kard out of Champagne Salute (Dam sire Glendora Salute to the stars - Dam - Woodmount Fiesta). Willy is a great eventing type with impressive show jumping blood lines. He is very tall in stature, and still a little gangly/awkward but you can see he is well put together and will be super impressive when he matures a little more. He has 3 quality paces with loads of scope for performance. Willy is only a baby so is yet to compete, however he has been out and about a bit, with floating experience in a straight and angle load/truck. He is still a little unsure of loading but always goes on. He loves water and enJoys paddling in the dam at his current owners place. He is very brave and curious and likes to investigate dogs, tarps and noisy things! Willy has a very sweet nature and really loves attention so he comes when you call him to catch! He is still learning about the farrier, but has been shod twice without too much drama and has been excellent to tack up and handle in every other way here with us. Willy has been extensively handled since he was 2 weeks old with loads of exposure and ground work always demonstrating a kind, willing, trainable attitude. Very calm, quick learner that loves people. Willy had professional pre-breaking work for 5 weeks as a 2yo and then broken in professionally and turned out June 2023 before returning to training in December 2023. Willy is still quite green to ride, and figuring out his body parts and where all his long limbs go. He is on the lazier side but not too bad, and is working on his turning and yeilding to become more supple and engaged. As he gets more in front of the leg we will start more half-halts but he is very straightforward and feels safe to ride, just needs more time, training and strength. Willy is a really genuine young horse with a sweet nature and an outstanding versatile performAnce prospect at the same time! Suitable for an intermediate plus rider due to his size and age, but quiet enough for an ambitious novice plus rider to bring along with the guidance of a good coach/trainer. He has so much to offer his next rider, and we can't wait to see what he looks like in 12 months time with more work, maturing and filling out!
