GI Warzone is your ‘once in a lifetime’ dream performance horse. He is a warmblood standing 17hh and in the prime of his career, just turning 15 years old at the beginning of the month. With immaculate breeding and dressage credentials by Wolkenstien II and the athleticism of his dam Glance My Way, Leo is a star and winner in any discipline.
Education, skills and experience: Leo has competed in eventing, show jumping and dressage where he has countless wins and placing. He has three lovely paces and an outstanding trot. Leo has established lateral work with shoulder in, traverse, half pass, turns on the forehand and haunches as well as a very balanced leg yield. Leo has competed up to Elementary dressage and is training medium - completely push button scoring up to 80%.
Leo has schooled up to 1.30m in showjumping - with scope to go higher - and has competed up to 1.15 in straight showjumping with his current rider. He is an absolute schoolmaster performance horse in this arena. Leo is so good at his job - brave, careful, talented and fun to jump!
Leo has competed and won at 3* eventing. However, due to previous issues coming out of the start box, we are not selling hm as an eventer. The owners are happy to discuss this further.
General demeanor under saddle: Leo is willing and responsive under saddle. He is forward and sharp. Leo has a snaffle mouth and naturally/ easily collects.
Leo is generally very calm and reliable but not unflappable, he can sometimes look at things and snort dramatically (like any big warmblood) - but then stops and is calm.
Leo can be competed in showjumping and dressage, ridden bareback and ridden on trails without issues.
Current workload/ fitness: Leo is currently in work 4-5 times a week and is competing.
Handling: Leo can be pushy (like any big warmblood) but is SAFE to handle - to catch, shoe, clip, wash, saddle and load/ travel and unload.
Behaviour: Leo is bullet proof and focused in warm ups and in showjumping and dressage. He is bomb proof on his own for gallop training and in unfamiliar places.
Leo can be anxious - after a spell or prior to being treated for ulcers - this manifests itself on the ground, when tied up, in a yard or in the float as pawing and propping with his hind end. He doesn’t kick out and is safe.
Leo thrives on being ridden 3-4 times a week. He is beautiful on the lunge and automatically responds to voice commands. Leo is, however, fine to hop straight on after a spell.
Feeding and management: Leo is stabled at night and out in a paddock during the day. He likes routine and comes up without being called at bed time. He is fed Ironhorse Fibrewell, lucerne chaff and suralox plus any type of hay
Leo loves going to the equine swim pool every week - that is his favourite thing to do and thrives on this experience.
Medical history: Leo has clean xrays from 2023 and these are available for interested parties.
Rider Suitability: Leo would suit a keen, confident and capable rider who doesn’t have the budget for a $100k competitive performance horse but is willing and able to manage him. In this scenario, Leo will thrive and bring the right rider so much fun and success.
Reason for sale: Leo is reluctantly for sale because his rider is at university and works part time. She doesn’t have the time to commit to a high level performance horse - especially one that thrives on work and routine.
