Introduction: ‘Archie’ is a talented little horse who is ready to find his next partner. He is the ultimate competitive all-rounder with too many placings to list.
Education, skills and experience: Archie’s owner has brought him on, slowly and correctly, over the last 5 years. He is currently competing in 95 eventing, 1m showjumping and Official elementary dressage.
Dressage: Archie is well established in dressage with three even paces, consistently producing calm and accurate tests. He has a comprehensive dressage education to elementary level and has the ability to progress up the levels. Archie willingly collects, is balanced, light and soft to ride.
In eventing dressage, Archie is always a stand out, consistently scoring under 30 penalties (usually sits in the mid twenties) and up to 75%. In official dressage, Archie is competing elementary and has placed in every dressage event that he has competed at.
Showjumping: Archie is responsive and adjustable, competitive against the clock. He is trustworthy around the course and doesn’t stop. Archie has successfully competed up to 100cm. In showjumping he is careful and scopy.
Cross Country: On cross country, Archie is bold and honest. In 5 years of eventing, he has never had a cross country jumping fault. He is ready to go 1* with the right rider and he is training, at this height, with ease.
Archie absolutely loves jumping, and is a ‘point and shoot’ cross country horse. He is very clever and quick with his feet, will jump nearly anything off any angle and any stride. Archie can always be trusted to bring his rider home safely.
General demeanor under saddle: Archie is a wonderful example of the modern performance horse being compact, athletic and refined. His paces display elasticity and activity suitable to progress up the star levels.
Archie is a willing and responsive gelding who is also honest and aims to please. He is generally quiet but not completely unflappable to ride. Archie does react to rider nerves by becoming tense.
Archie is easy to take off the property, and works well in a group or on his own. He requires no extensive warm up or cool downs, and is exactly the same after a break. Archie is ridden, in all disciplines, in a loose ring snaffle.
Archie is good with dogs, motorbikes and loves the beach. He is very social and makes friends wherever he goes, making him a great horse to camp with at competitions.
Current workload/ fitness: Archie is in work 4 days a week and is competing.
Handling and general behaviour: Archie LOVES people and would sit in your lap on the couch, if you let him come inside the house! For this reason, he can be cheeky and a little pushy on the ground.
Archie can get impatient in the float and is pushy in temporary yards, but he is ‘happy as Larry’ to stay in hard standing yards.
Archie is, however, ‘non horsey boyfriend’ safe and easy to manage - straight forward to catch and handle - lead, rug, tack up, wash, shoe etc.
Feeding and management: Archie loves his food and is a good doer. He is fed lucerne before riding or travelling, as well as an ulcer supplement and has not had any ulcer issues for the last three years.
Medical history: Archie has small scars which do not impact him cosmetically and do not affect his performance.
Rider Suitability: Capable and confident - Archie will be perfect for an experienced teen or young adult looking for a competitive partner. He can be cheeky and is sensitive at times, therefore he needs a rider who is kind, confident and reassuring. Archie has the trainability, ability & temperament to go up the grades in any discipline.
