Introduction: Imperial Topaz/ Gem is a super competitive 14-year-old, WB x ASH mare standing a smidge under 14hh. She has a true schoolmaster - nothing phases her and she is reliable and trustworthy in all situations. Gem has taken her rider from x-rails to 95cm and has proven herself, time and again, to be fun, brave, careful and safe!
Education, riding and experience: Gem has been a fabulous confidence builder showjumper for her owner. Gem and her rider have attended countless jump club, open show jumping competitions, and pony club competitions - with many wins and placings - always coming home with a ribbon or rug!
Gem happily and competitively competes at 90cm or B Grade pony club - she is a ‘take the rider to the jump’ type - which is very good for the rider’s confidence and safety. She doesn’t ever stop or run out.
Gem has all flat work established. She has competed in dressage competitions as well as competing EVA65 eventing. She has also done hacking/ showing at local agricultural shows.
General demeanor under saddle: Gem takes great care of her rider - she happily carts her rider around the farm, is unphased by tractors and livestock, is great on trail rides, going to the beach or for a swim in the dam.
Gem is, however, she is a competitive show jumper. She is ridden in a simple snaffle bit and is as slow or forward as the rider - when jumping. Gem is not for unbalanced or nervous riders and would be a second or third pony type in this discipline.
Current workload/ fitness: Gem is currently in light work, ridden 2-3 times a week.
Handling: Gem is well mannered on the ground, easy to catch and saddle - she does put her ears back when you do up the girth - but is all bluff! She is happy and calm when washing, clipping and for the farrier. Gem loads easily onto the float or truck, stands quietly when traveling and unloads calmly.
Behaviour: Reliable and trustworthy, no vices.
Feeding and management: No special feeding requirements, currency not fed due to feed in paddock. She is hard fed when needed during the competition season.
Medical: No medical issues.
Rider Suitability: Would suit intermediate riders for jumping or a confident novice rider - under instruction - as an allrounder.
Reason for sale: Gem is reluctantly for sale as her owner has outgrown her.
