Leo de Janeiro ~ 16.2hh chestnut gelding born 3/12/2002 competed elementary, training medium.
I have been lucky enough to own Yào (Leo de Janeiro) for over the past three years. Even with his age it is no determinant on his young goofy character like personality. He is a good doer with no lameness issues and if continued to be trained and ridden correctly will have many more years left in him. He has a great attitude towards training and loves to be challenged! In the last year I have struggled with some anxiety and he has been the best confidence builder for me with his level headedness. As we are presently building a house he has been exposed to numerous “scary” things eg. large machinery coming through and has not been phased by it, but has actually shown interest in what is happening. With his previous owners he has competed up to elementary and to pre-novice in eventing and has come away with many wins. He has only been taken over small jumps with me in the last years as I am not a jumper myself, so he could potentially do nicely for a rider who would like to do a little bit of everything at the lower jumping levels.
I initially bought him as an experienced horse to compete on who could teach me and take me through the levels in dressage. Unfortunately with university commitments and moving to the city for university, I am unable to feasibly keep him and consistently train him to continue my ambitions of moving up the grades in dressage. In this time I have only been able to compete him up to Novice level due to unfortunate circumstance (none of that are in relation to him). In this time we have been training Elem/Medium. He has established walk pirouettes, lateral movements and has started flying lead changes and showing great enthusiasm. He is very much a schoolmaster type with an uncomplicated way of going.
This has been a very hard decision for me as I would love to continue to move up the levels with him, however I’ve decided that with university I will not be able to put in enough time to achieve this goal. Good to c/s/f/w. Up to date with worming, Hendra, Tetanus/Strangles and teeth (28/10/20). This gorgeous boy has all the buttons and is ready to move on to his next owner to teach and take them through the levels. Would suit a young teen looking for a horse who’s been there, done that or an older rider looking for a low fuss, easy going horse that still has the sensitivitey to continue his education. Only selling to the right home, price is negotiable. Contact 0475307173 for more information or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
