New World Baryshnikov
Big beautiful Barry is a 17hh gelding by the warmblood stallion Balletmeister (Brentano II) out of CheckersXX born 30/9/2012 - he just turned 8
Barry was purchased in Feb as my dream horse to climb the levels in dressage. Prior to me he has had one owner (High level dressage rider) who had him from 6 months old - growing up at NEGS and competing out and about successfully around the Armidale and Tamworth area's.
Not long after I got Barry COVID hit and we spent the first few months getting weekly lessons with my dressage coach and competing in online dressage competitions.
Now comps are up and going again we have competed at 2 dressage comps (Sept and Oct) in Prelim and novice for 2 firsts and 2 seconds. Barry has a look at me prescence with a beautiful overtracking walk, big swinging trot and an amazing uphill canters. He rarely scores below high 60%'s and frequently scores over 70%. Due to lots of unofficial events Barry is still EA graded preliminary which is ideal for someone wanting to work their way through the grades. He is currently competing Novice and schooling elementary (has laterals, shoulder in, traver, counter canter all established) I had only competed preliminary prior to buying Barry and have learnt so much on him already. He has been great with me while I learnt the ropes and how to ride him correctly as well as learning the novice and elementary moves under instruction. My coach thinks I'm crazy selling him
But unfortunately I have just learnt my persistent sore back is more serious than I realised after ending up in hospital (not horse related, bending over to pick something up of all things) and I will require surgery in the future and a decent stint out of the saddle :( Barry is far too talented to be sitting in the paddock or being my sometimes horse around my back issues. He loves a job to do and thrives being in work. He doesn't need to be ridden everyday and is fine to jump on after a week off, He recently had a 6 week break due to a foot abcess and also my injury and has just come back into work with a 17 year old friend riding him for me (as I currently cannot ride)
Barry is good to catch, shoe (has front shoes on), float/truck - he is great to take out but he can be a little edgy while tied to the float at comps (just paws a bit) but is amazing under saddle at comps and in a busy warm up arena. I compete him alone and prior to me he was part of a team of horses competing and didn't used to paw when tied to the float when he was part of a team but has done at times with me. I am frequently told he is quiet for a warmblood, however he is still a big young horse and likes clear direction from his rider. He is ridden without spurs and has lovely forward/active paces.
Barry loves to jump and shows a lot of talent in this area. He has had a few SJ lessons and also schooled cross country (and done a XC clinic) up to 80cm with ease and the potential to go much higher (he makes it feel so easy and I'm not super brave jumper) and does not hesitate at anything! Ditches, banks, water, brushes he just loves it, doesn't get strong and just pokes along (in a snaffle) with his beautiful ground covering canter. I had planned to event him but unfortunately due to Covid hadn't got to any events yet. *vidoe added of Barry jumping
Barry isn't just a fancy dressage horse that has only seen the inside of an arena - he loves hacking out on a trail ride, he went mustering in his early days and is used to our farm life (trucks/tractors etc) he is also great indoors. The right home is super important as this guy is a really special horse with untapped potential to do well in both Dressage and Eventing.
This is a genuine and very difficult sale of my once in a lifetime horse. Please don't send messages on here as I don't get them, feel free to call or text message 0415 836 491 for more videos.
