🍷 GL Altum Shiraz 🍷
7 yr old registered Arabian Welsh 14hh gelding
This gorgeous liver chestnut gelding has been an absolute character while I have had the pleasure of riding him, he loves his work and he loves his human interaction even more. Tony has been a phenomenal little student and is now ready to find his next rider. While his movement certainly attracts the attention of the dressage and show judges, this little guy loves to jump as well! He would be well suited to someone looking to venture into the pony dressage scene, but would also suit a competent young rider who wanted to have a good crack at showjumping and eventing. As mentioned later, he has a big personality and as such would pair well with a younger rider with the same amount of heart and love for the sport. Tony is green, he has been out and about a lot over winter with an impeccable track record but will need more time to develop strength and balance in the harder work. He could cruise around a prelim test now with a cute lengthened trot slowly developing. He is very easy on the contact and loves to be the centre of attention. He is a forward pony, nicely in front of the leg, but not for someone after a ‘plodder’.
Mr Tony here has played the role of my ‘fun’ pony for the year, taking me to my first eventing comp in 8 years and my first time around a show jump course in about the same amount of time. Tony attended his first eventing comp a few months back with just one XC training day to back him up and was an absolute star jumping clean all weekend with just a few time penalties after he wasn’t so convinced about dirtying his clean white socks at the water jump. He is happily jumping around 60cm at the moment with so much room to go higher, he is the type of pony who just gets on with the job, isn’t spooky and jumps everything without even blinking an eye.
I will diverge into his personality just a little bit because he does in fact think he is the centre of the universe. While easy to handle, float, clip and trim, Tony has a huge personality! I personally love it, he makes me laugh every day. It isn’t at all nasty, he just knows how good he really is. He won’t just trot across the paddock to you, he will strut on over as if walking down the catwalk. His eyes are also much bigger than his stomach and in true Welsh style, he lives off the smell of an oily rag. He is good with machinery and has had cows for neighbours.
Tony has been a delight to have around and has been incredibly easy to drag around from one venue to another whether he is on his own or accompanied by one of my baby horses, acting as a very good nanny for the day.
The footage below has snippets from throughout the year. The first lot of dressage footage is the most recent and what can’t be seen is the thousands of flies that decided to join us that day, he is a little bothered by them as you can see. I have left all that footage in so prospective buyers can see it all. There is showjumping footage later in the video.
Tony is in full work and ready to be viewed in Wagga Wagga 2650
