Monty is a pleasure to handle and do anything with and is very human orientated – he just loves attention! He has a great little personality with no vices and is great to catch, float, wash, trim, clip etc and prepare for a show. He has a good groundwork and under saddle foundation with lovely smooth paces, a soft mouth and fantastic stop. Monty can travel in a round frame and has started walk to canters, leg yield and lengthen stride. He was started in June 2019 and has been going kindly undersaddle since. Monty attended his first two agricultural shows after only being undersaddle 8 weeks, in which he took everything in his stride and came home with winnings and placings at both events.
Monty has also been ridden by capable children, his first ride with a child being under saddle only 3 weeks. He has recently been ridden by a 9yr old rider in the last two months and has been taken on an outing to pony club where he didn’t put a foot wrong.
Monty has been ridden amongst cattle and been taken on trail rides around our 60 acre property, as well as popped over some 40-50cm cross rails showing a nice, calm and neat jumping style. Monty has free jumped 80-90cm. Has been ridden bareback, walks over tarps, flap a fag off him, crack a whip off him and has also begun to be taught to bow and lay down. Monty has also been paddocked and ridden with other horses. Good after a spell, just give him a quick lunge and get on and go.
Monty is up to date with teeth, worming, Chiro, vaccinations and trimming. He is currently in light work.
While Monty is still only young, I believe he would suit a confident capable young rider that has an independent seat and soft hands - with the support of an experienced horsey family. He will be a genuine allrounder and competitive show/pony club mount as he takes everything in his stride, is quiet and hasn’t shown any naughty or nasty behaviour; however due to his age I don’t think he would suit a beginner or inexperienced rider/family at this point in time as he needs someone that will continue on with his education and can ride fairly competently.
