Flynn is a really lovely 16.2hh 6yo approx Anglo Arab gelding. Sire: Concherto FF out of a TB mare. Type Flynn is an eye-catching type, with his classic bay colouring and elegant, athletic build. He is naturally uphill with a nice shape to his neck. Flynn is a sweet young horse with a god foundation of training under his belt. He has been to ARC clinics but hasn’t competed just yet. He is currently owned by his breeder who has also been his rider up until now. Temperament We have found Flynn to be very easy to handle on the ground. He has been very sensible in the paddock for turn out, but also easy-going in the stable/day yards. He was a little shy when going to know us with being caught but is really confident with us now. To ride, he is very straight-forward and genuine. Paces Flynn has very good paces with a good active walk with clear over-track, an expressive yet regular trot and although green, he has a really lovely canter with good ground cover. Dressage Training Rhythm - Flynn can be a little lazy at times, he is more woah than go but once you get him going he feels lovely and forward. He is quite happy to tick along in whatever rhythm you set, and won’t speed off when you soften the reins. Suppleness & Contact - We brought Flynn back into work after a short break and he was an absolute dream. He was a little rusty with his bend but this is getting better every ride. He can still fall in and out a little at times, but not too bad and he is very smart so this feels better every day. In the contact, he is quite open and always seeking the bit, willing to stretch and reach. He needs more strength training before he will be able to consistently work in a more uphill, collected frame. He is generally soft in the mouth, and relatively steady in the hand for his level of education. Impulsion & Straightness - Flynn is starting to understand the half-halt but needs more transitions between and within the paces to become quick enough to make a really solid shift of balance. He has a good natural push in his paces, and as he gets stronger and learns more, he feels like he will be capable of some pretty impressive work! Jumping Flynn has just commenced jumping here with us. (He had previously done some logs but official jumping training is only just underway.) He wants to be careful, but is still a little green in his technique and still needs to build up more confidence with the scary jumps. Ben has jumped him up to 70cm, and he is willing enough, he just needs more practice and exposure. He is a great type for eventing, and would make a really competitive allrounder. Rider Suitability Flynn presents a rare opportunity to secure a genuine young horse with a solid basic education, and lots of promise for the future. His lovely temperament make him a great candidate for an intermediate + rider to bring on as a first young horse under the guidance of a competent trainer or coach. Flynn is certainly a very versatile athlete with a bright future ahead. We feel he will be an asset to a rider looking for an allrounder type to love, enjoy and have fun with while being competitive across disciplines! Located Nyora, VIC.
