Handsome, dark brown 15.3hh gelding with correct uphill conformation and good length of rein.He has a lovely soft correct contact and has always been ridden in a snaffle. His walk has good over track, comfortable trot to sit to and a balanced uphill expressive canter.
Out of work for 4 years but recently brought back into light work 3/9/19. First ride back he went nicely in walk, trot and canter in both directions, well balanced, consistent contact, smooth transitions, finished with a calm walk on a long rein. Competed Novice Dressage and was usually in the top 10. Training Elementary at home and it wouldn’t take much to get him back to this. I have photos, videos and test papers that can be viewed. His breeder, an older lady competed Novice Dressage on him.
He has been barefoot for over 6 years with no hoof troubles. He doesn’t get overly fat but is only on two 2L scoops of chaff a day, 2 metric cups of Mitavite Xtra-Cool and 3 small biscuits of teff or oaten hay per day. Only a few medical issues in 6 years which I am happy to provide details of. He shares well with other horses. Well socialised having lived in a herd for the first 10 years of his life.
He is generally good to handle, easy to catch, groom, trim with small clippers, lead, lunge, shoe/trim, worm, medicate, attend to teeth, travel on float or truck etc. I was able to load/unload on to the float on my own and he travelled well.
He enjoys walks on bushy trails and I spent many hours strolling around the agistment property he was on, holding the buckle of the reins.
He has worked with cattle on a dairy property and is very confident around cattle.
When I bought him in 2010 he was popped over a few 80cm jumps and is quite talented in this regard but I have not jumped him. He enjoyed working with trot poles and cavelletti as part of his training.
He will be sold with his Australian Made Skypark canvas combo rugs, one wool blanket lined and one unlined. Also, two polycotton under-rugs, polarfleece liner, mesh insect sheet and custom made halter with lead rope.
Diddi is not a beginner’s horse or a nervous riders horse. He will also need to be ridden more than just on weekends. He does not need an overly experienced rider as he is an uncomplicated ride BUT when not in regular work, he can be a bit spooky, sharp and reactive. He is a sensitive horse and if you are nervous, he will feed off the nerves. He goes very nicely with 3 or 4 rides a week and a no-nonsense rider who will give him confidence. He doesn't need a lot of work or lungeing just needs to be regular.
Diddi is for sale as my circumstances have changed and I am no longer able to give him the regular work he needs for the foreseeable future. When in work he is very rewarding to train as he is smart and has a good work ethic. He thrives with regular work and enjoys being ridden. If you can give Diddi the home he deserves he will reward you with a great partnership.
The price I am asking does not reflect the quality of the horse or education, just his age and lack of recent work.
