8yo (rising 9), 16.3hh Irish Sport Horse gelding by Braveheart (IFS) out of the maternal sister of Klydoscope (3* eventer, 140 showjumper).
Seamus had a bit of a later start to life, but has been competing for the last 18months and is now looking for someone to go out and shine with. I think he is the ultimate eventer, and would love to see him out being competitive at these comps.
He has mainly show jumped with me (competing up to 95), but has also done a few horse trials (65, and 80 because I’m a chicken cross country) for a win and placings. Cross country is his absolute favourite phase, he is bold and brave and you can feel how much he enjoys it. He has a big, powerful jump and wants to be careful.
He is also lovely on the flat with 3 excellent paces. He has shoulder in, leg yields and counter canter established, and is training the other elementary movements. He has quite a presence about him and the dressage judges love him.
He is quite straightforward and fun once you know him, but he is a little quirky and therefore isn’t for everyone. He thrives on regular work and most of these quirks are minimised when he is ridden consistently, but he does need a confident and capable rider to get the best out of him.
- He is a little horse shy, so needs someone to help continue to give him confidence with this.
- Can be a bit pushy on the ground, so does need someone confident handling a bit horse to remind him of his ground manners
- Can be a bit tight over his back in his first canter when fresh/anxious. It doesn’t escalate, but he’s happiest when he has a proper warm up rather than being rushed because you’re in the ring in 3 horses! I don’t lunge him in every day life or at shows, but if he’s had a bit of time off I do tend to lunge him before I get on as he can be a bit enthusiastic!
As a result of this, my desire to want to find him his perfect home, and the fact that I’m very overcommitted, I’m pricing him incredibly reasonably at $15,000. He is a seriously quality horse for this price, but he isn’t a perfect robot. He has lots of personality, but always wants to be a good boy and do the right thing.
He is not for weekenders/nervous riders, and is too much horse for a junior coming off a pony. I would love to see him with either a capable older teen or adult wanting a fun, competitive horse.
