High Hopes for CatWalk Fundraiser

Published on Monday, March 5, 2012 in General

The Australasian breeding industry continues to throw its weight behind the international race for a cure for Spinal Cord Injury (SCI), with high fliers Coolmore Stud the latest to come on board with a donation of a nomination to its popular young stallion High Chaparral (pictured).

High Chaparral sired a remarkable four individual Group One winners from his first southern hemisphere crop including all conquering galloper So You Think and is also responsible for 2011 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf hero and 2012 Epsom Derby prospect Wrote.

The High Chaparral nomination will go under the hammer at Sydney’s Fools & Horses champagne dinner, Sunday April 8, with all profits going to fund research into a cure for SCI.

The Spinal Cord Injury Network of Australia and The CatWalk Trust of New Zealand are collaborating on the evening with one person a day across both countries suffering a life altering SCI, at a cost of $2.2 billion annually.

Other highlights of the auction will include a Champagne Breakfast experience with racetrack sensation Black Caviar

The evening is designed around a comedy debate discussing the topic - Only Fools and Horses Work – with a number of sports and racing personalities already committed to taking part, including Black Caviar’s trainer Peter Moody.
