Introduction: Diamond is your ‘once in a lifetime’ dream performance horse. She is a stunning German Riding Pony standing 15.1hh and, at 12 years old, is entering the prime of her career. Sold to her current owners by Matavia Performance Horses, she has an immaculate education and fabulous bloodlines, Diamond is a star and winner in any discipline.
Education, skills and experience: Diamond has competed in eventing, show jumping, showing and dressage where she has countless wins and placings. She has three lovely paces and an outstanding trot with wonderful cadence.
Diamond has established lateral work with shoulder in, traverse, half pass, turns on the forehand and haunches as well as a very balanced leg yield. Diamond is training at Elementary and could easily make a FEI dressage horse, rising up the levels quickly if this is what was desired. She consistently scores 70% plus with little effort required , leaving her at the top of the scoreboard in very big classes.
Diamond has schooled up to 1m in showjumping and eventing and is ready to compete at EA 95 eventing. She is incredibly willing and careful with great technique, and has no problem jumping into water and over ditches. Although Diamond is very competitive as an eventing horse she probably is not brave enough to make a star class horse with a less confident rider. She would be best suited to eventing at 95cm or lower if this was your chosen discipline.
General demeanor under saddle: Diamond is willing and responsive under saddle. She has a forward and big flashy movement which is always a crowd pleaser. She has a snaffle mouth and naturally/ easily collects. She is well trained from the seat and listens to the riders aids.
Diamond is very reliable to take out and is the same at home as she is at competitions. She is not at all horse shy and is very easy to ride in large groups of horses. She gives her rider confidence in that she never has taken advantage of a rider's ability and is consistent in her work.
Diamond is generally very calm and reliable but not unflappable, she can sometimes look at things but doesn’t spook. She has never pigrooted, bucked, bolted or reared. She is not reactive in hot situations.
Diamond can be shown, competed in showjumping, eventing and dressage, ridden bareback and ridden on trails without issues by a confident novice rider.
Current workload/ fitness: Diamond is currently in work 4-5 times a week and is currently competing. She can be left for big breaks with no problem or lunging required.
Handling: Diamond is very well mannered on the ground - safe to handle - to catch, shoe, clip, wash, saddle and load/ travel and unload. Currently is completely handled by a 9 year old.
Behaviour: Diamond is more of a sensitive horse that loves to follow you. She thrives on building a relationship with her owner. She is never cheeky and never pushes the boundaries. Diamond is very sweet and gentle. She prefers to travel on an angle in a float or truck or in a straight load, with the divider out.
She is very easy to take away from competitions, eats all her feed, hay and water and does not stress. She also travels well on long trips.
Feeding and management: Diamond is on minimal hard feed and ad ib hay. She is a good doer.
Medical history: Diamond’s owners welcome any vet check.
Rider Suitability: Intermediate Rider defined as someone who has been riding / competing regularly for at least three years, has independent hands and balanced position/ seat; can walk, trot and canter on their own horse. Rider is confident if the horse is reasonably well behaved. Prefers a schoolmaster type without any major quirks.
Reason for sale: Owner wants to compete in star level eventing and Diamond is more suited to being an allrounder ( lower level eventing, showjumping to 90-100, interschools, showing and dressage) or a flashy FEI horse for the future. She is currently ridden and competed by the owners 9 year old daughter in eventing, Ct and showing with lots of pony club rallies under their belt.
