Wally is a stunning warmblood x gelding bred by his experienced eventing/ dressage owners - Rohan and Kate Luxmoore - and competed by their daughter Isabelle. He is by Baunehojens Diamond Dancer, who is currently competing Grand Prix, out of Regal Tiarnah - an ASH PSG / eventing mare.
Rohan competed Wally successfully to EVA95 level, including being Champion of Champions at DJWTS in 2022. Isabelle then took over the ride and brought Wally up the levels to Medium. With Isabelle heading overseas and Wally being at such a pivotal point in his career, they have made the very difficult decision to sell him.
Conformation: Wally is a classic example of a modern dressage horse - he is built ‘uphill’ and is the picture of strength, balance and symmetry.
Education and experience: Wally is the ultimate young dressage horse - with 49 official online dressage results, with 16 of those at Medium level, which he has been competing at since the beginning of 2024. Wally scored over 67% at two out of his last three starts. He has been training Advanced and is ready for his first start at this level.
Wally is a well performed young horse. He has competed at every major venue in Victoria, remaining safe at all times. He is rideable and trainable with established lateral work, consistent medium paces, and his ability to collect in the canter is a highlight.
Wally is the same at home, as he is at competitions, whether outdoors or indoors. He is generally relaxed on trail rides and he enjoyed his jumping to 95cm. Wally also has the looks, conformation and presence to be a fabulous show horse!
General demeanour under saddle: Wally is responsive and willing. He is primarily ridden in a snaffle due to age. Wally works in a consistent contact if ridden correctly. He is tolerant of rider mistakes and is straightforward enough for confident and capable amateur or young riders to enjoy and compete.
Current workload/ fitness: Wally is in work 2-3 times a week and is competing. He does not need to be ridden regularly to be safe and his behaviour is not affected by a spell.
Handling: Wally is very well mannered on the ground. He is easy to catch, lead and handle - for farrier, picking out feet, grooming and washing. Wally loads into float and truck very easily, stands quietly when travelling and unloads calmly. He is easy and calm to trim with electric clippers.
Behaviour: Wally is generally very calm and reliable. He is not concerned by farm life - tractors, trucks, motorbikes, livestock, dogs or other pets. Wally is absolutely safe with no buck, bolt, rear but is not completely unflappable. He may drift away from new things during the first ten minutes of a ride, at home. If you ignore this, he moves on. At competitions, he isn’t fussed about anything.
Feeding and management: Wally is not fed any special feed, supplement or any medication.
Medical history: Wally is 100% sound and without issues, his breeders welcome any vet check and clean xrays are available.
Rider Suitability: Capable Rider as he is a big young horse.
Ideal home: would be with a competent young rider or amateur adult rider who wants a horse established at Medium and ready to go Advanced.
Reason for sale: Wally’s breeder/ rider/ owner is going overseas to ride for 12 months and her parents can't keep three extra horses in work - so one has to be sold. Very regretful sale as they not only breed him but also competed his dam very successfully. Wally will only be sold to a loving and caring home.
