14th - Sarah's Stableyard
Sarah's Stableyard is the first establishment in Australia to specialise purely in The Trail of Painted Ponies products!
The Trail of Painted Ponies is a fine arts and collectible company that explores the inspirational power of the horse by inviting artists to imaginatively transform elegant horse sculptures into dazzling works of art. The most spectacular Painted Ponies are then crafted into beautiful, high-quality figurines that are miniature artworks in their own right. Painted Ponies are created by artists and crafted by artisans with great care and attention to details and each one is sequentially hand-numbered. The collectible Story Cards which feature the stories of each of the Painted Ponies together with their beautifully decorated boxes are quickly making them one of the fastest growing and most beloved collectibles in Australia.
With a recent change in manufacturer, instead of releasing eight new Painted Ponies twice a year, they are now being released in herds of four, each quarter of the year. That means ponies more often for the avid collector.
One of the things about The Trail of Painted Ponies which makes them such a special collectible is the retirements at various times throughout the year. The Trail calls this putting them ‘out to pasture’ and when a figurine is retired, it means they will no longer be produced by the manufacturer. As time goes by, retired figurines become more difficult to locate and prices increase accordingly making those in people’s collections all the more special.
Once a year a selection of four Holiday figurines are announced in addition to the usual herd releases. These figurines come in the standard 6 inch size and smaller 3 inch hanging ornaments in decorated tins which make fantastic Christmas presents. This year, also brings the release of a special book – ‘A Painted Ponies Christmas’, which features 47 Holiday ponies in a beautiful hard cover book.
The Trail of Painted Ponies is continuously expanding the brand and plans to be around for the long haul. The recent announcement of the new Celebrity Collection is an example of this – the first figurine being created by actor Tony Curtis, called ‘Shiloh’. More recently Dolly Parton has created a pony called ‘Colt of Many Colors’ which has yet to be released into production as a figurine.
The Trail of Painted Ponies has released many other products to enhance collections, which include mugs, jewellery, jigsaws, handbags, wallets, books to name but a few. There are also two styles of Paint Your Own Pony Kits available so that budding artists can have a go at creating their own work of art. Designs by anyone can be submitted to The Trail of Painted Ponies and who knows; maybe one you have designed will get turned into a production piece!
