Oreo the Runaway Carriage Horse Retired from his New York Job

The New York Daily News has reported that Oreo, the black-and-white carriage horse who went on a sprint through midtown after being spooked by construction noise earlier this month, will only have a brief retirement. On Wednesday Oreo was shipped to a 120-acre horse sanctuary in Massachusetts, where he’ll remain for a few weeks until someone adopts him....

 

Joann Formosa Challenges British Favourite

Australian Equestrian rider Joann Formosa has put Australia in a strong position for day two of the London Paralympic Games team test, after finishing third in her grade at the Greenwich Park today. Formosa, 51, from regional Victoria had the performance of her life, to score a 71.955% pushing her into third position, behind Great Britain’s Lee Pearson (74.545%) and Austria’s Pepo Puch (73.636%) in Grade 1b....

Olympic bronze medallist Andrew Nicholson has more reason than most to do well at the Burghley International Horse Trials this week. The 51-year-old is poised to take out the HSBC FEI Classic Series, in which he is sitting second, just six points behind William Fox-Pitt (GBR). The series – the grand slam of eventing – has the biggest prize pool on offer in the sport of eventing, with $US150,000 to the winner, $US75,000 to second, with prize money paid out through to fifth place....
