The incredible setting of the Magna Racino venue at Ebreichsdorf (AUT) played host to the 2012 European Championships for Young Riders, Juniors and Children, with over 200 horses and riders descending on the site which many believed provided the best facilities ever for these prestigious Championships.... Appaloosa breeder and western showing competitor Lee Mannix and her husband Brent, recently experienced a terrible tragedy. Brent was critically injured when his trail bike collided with a kangaroo at their small farm in Robinvale, Victoria. He suffered many injuries, including the fracturing of T 4,5 and 6 vertebrae, meaning that he will be a paraplegic. He is 42.... New Zealand riders are expected to make quite a debut at the 10th World University Equestrian Championships in Aachen, Germany, this week. Rachael Bentall, Chloe Akers (pictured) and Helen Bruce will be the first ever Kiwi representatives at the biennial German event, but trainer John Cottle is picking they will do well. “It’s a new competition for us, but these girls are all great team members, good riders and will be excellent ambassadors for the country,” he said.... The Irish recorded a back-to-back double when winning the last leg of the FEI Nations Cup™ 2012 on home turf in Dublin, Ireland today. The result rocketed them up the leaderboard to third place behind France in the final standings, but, despite a disappointing day when finishing an uncharacteristic last, it was Germany that claimed the series title for the fifth time in the 10-year history of the top-level league.... The New York Daily News have reported that a runaway carriage horse wreaked havoc during the start of rush hour on Thursday afternoon ,after breaking free and running off before hitting a parked car near Columbus Circle. Australian tourists Nathan and Kelly Thompson were enjoying a ride around the popular tourist spot around 4.20 pm when driver Mehmet Dundar tried to merge into traffic at the circle, witnesses and law enforcement sources said....
