Life After Racing at Sydney’s Weekend of World Cups

At the 2011 Weekend of World Cups in Sydney, starting this Friday 6 May at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre, there are a large number of ex-racehorses competing in both Eventing and Show Jumping from the lower grades all the way through to the top level. 19 horses in the top three eventing levels were racehorses with five out of the 31 entries in the Eventing World Cup and one out of 25 entries in the Show Jumping World Cup beginning their lives on the track....

Andrea Smith riding Glenmore Tariq (pictured) completed a thoroughly deserved victory on Good Friday at Endurance’s Nationals, at Kuratau, Lake Taupo, in the CEI 3* 160km ride, finishing in an impressive time of 9.34.55 and uncontested in the final stages. For Smith and her homebred horse the victory was doubly sweet as they had come so far at the same venue earlier in the season, at the North Island champs, only to be given out lame in the final hurdle, that particular time they crossed the line in second. ...

Kiwi Meyer Eleventh in Kentucky

Joe Meyer and Snip were the best performed of the Kiwis competing at the Rolex Kentucky Three Day Event which finished in Lexington this morning. Meyer and his striking grey horse finished in 11th place, with Brit Mary King taking the quinella with her horses Kings Temptress and Fernhill Urco at the front of the field....
