51 Year Old Horse Still Going Strong!

Published on Tuesday, April 17, 2012 in General

We all hope that our horses live long and happy lives, maybe making it into their 30s and beyond, now a senior citizen equine in Essex (UK) is leading the way - having made it to the ripe old age of 51!

It appears that the 15hh chestnut gelding called Shayne, who is still very active and loves a gallop, could be the oldest horse in the world. The previous title of oldest living horse in the world was held by a Welsh x Arabian named Badger, who lived in Wales and died at the age of 51 in 2004.

Shayne's health is still good except for some mild arthritis and he is enjoying his long retirement at the 40 acre Remus Memorial Horse Sanctuary.
