Maree Tomkinson on Diamantina | 2012 Saddleworld Australian Dressage Championships | EA Grand Prix Champions

Entries have now closed for the 2013 Saddleworld Australian Dressage Championships. Some 270 horses have been entered, possibly the highest number of horses ever to enter this event. The maximum number that can take part at each level under EA National Dressage Rules is 35 horse/rider combinations. These horses are ranked on their top three performances during the qualifying twelve-month period and the top 35 are accepted to compete at each level with extensive reserve lists existing at most levels. To make it into the top rankings is a very big achievement.

The standard of entries this year is very strong with competitors from South Australia, Western Australia, the Northern Territory, Queensland, Victoria, New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory taking part.

The Grand Prix will be hotly contested with riders keen to impress Selectors in the lead-up to the World Equestrian Games in Normandy (France) next year. 30 horses will take part including Olympian Mary Hanna competing on both Umbro and Sancette, the horse she rode at the London Olympic Games, the 2012 Grand Prix Champion Maree Tomkinson on Diamantina and the winner of all Grand Prix competitions at the 2013 Sydney CDI, Sheridyn Ashwood on Prestige VDL. Many other top combinations will also be there demonstrating exciting sport at this level.

To see all the Dressage and Para-Dressage Stars that will be riding at the event visit the Nationals website where you can find more information on the Championships including on-line ticket bookings for the popular Saturday program. The Top Spot Marquee on Saturday night is the place to be if you want to enjoy the event in style and you can book on line. Tickets are still available for the special Saturday Evening Dinner.
