ABCRA Finals Round Three Wrap Up
The ABCRA National Finals are drawing to an end, and what a week of excitement and action we’ve seen. Arena records have been broken and titles have come down to the wire with the last round, which will take place tonight (26th of January), set to be the decider.
In the Rodeo arena, round 3 saw a win for Candice Parkinson in the Steer Undecorating after snatching her ribbon in a very quick time of 2.72. Shannon Soar wasn’t far behind, taking home second place with 2.80 and third was Suzie Fearon with 3.60.
In the Breakaway Roping, All Round Cowgirl leader Nichole Fitzpatrick made a quick catch to win the round with a time of 2.93. Singer Shandell Tosoni was 3.19 to finish in second place and Willow Tree’s Emily Harris was third after catching with a time of 3.52.
Bianca Hertel leads the way for the Barrel Racing Title making it no surprise she was the winner of round number three after having a fast time of 17.44. Brianna Learmonth was just a fraction off the winning time to take second place with a 17.47. Nichole Fitzpatrick found her-self in the placing’s once again to win third place with a quick time of 17.53.
Joel Mancell and Blake Hallam were the quickest on the night to win the Team Roping with a very quick time of 8.38. Terry Dowell and Matthew Mapp came in second with a time of 9.73 and Norman Stagg and Cameron Milner took home third place.
In the Saddle Bronc it was Robert Bandy who toughed out the 8 seconds for a win after scoring a mighty fine 83 points. Shaun Read and Luke Morgan both scored 75 to equal for second place and Kerry Wellington scored 73 to finish fourth.
In the Bareback, past Champion Darren W. Clarke showed he can still ride amongst the best, scoring 78 to win the round. Only one point behind was David Worsfold who took home second place and Clifton Richardson was third with a score of 73.
Cody Sheahan won the round in the Steerwrestling with a time of 3.52, followed by Jack Hedlund who had a time of 4.46 and Shane Kenny with 4.80.
The Rope & Tie saw Heath Nichols secure a win after clocking in at 11.14. Shane Iker wasn’t far behind with 11.47 to finish in second place and Roger Parkinson took home third with a time of 12.45.
The Bull Ride was a highlight of the night with some high scores on the board. Charlie Colless scored 82 to finish in the number three position and Carl Green scored 86 to finish second. Scoring a very impressive 89 points was Moonbi’s Ty Parkinson who not only won the round but also set a new arena record for the highest score recorded in the Bull Ride at the AELEC.
There was some tight competition over in the Campdraft Arena with many close scores separating the place getters. In the Encouragement, first place went to Christine Rasmussen on Danny with a score of 89. Second place went to Brooke Morris on Destinys Lethal Hand with a score of 88 and third place went to Warren Patterson on Stitch with a score of 84.
In the Junior Rider, first was Brooke Anderson aboard Browns Vintage with a score of 90 and second place went to Sam Colwell on Cedar with a score of 89. In the Juvenile, first place went to Brooke Morris riding Joys Romance after scoring a total of 169 and second went to Josh Barnett on Molly with a total score of 156.
The Maiden saw April Langridge with a win on Jekka after scoring 88. Second went to Wayne Murray on Ela Miss Boss with a score of 87.
In the Novice, Richard Barnett was first on Didget with a total score of 177. Noel Cheney was second on Canome Official with 172 and third went to Troy Palmer on Mistake with 168.
The Open saw first place go to Lachlan Maxwell aboard Redrock with a score of 85, and equal second place went to John Hardie on Lethal Spinster and David Gillett on Little Jimmy after both scoring 84.
The Lady Rider was won by Tammy Overton after riding Migs Cool Honey for a total score of 176. Second place went to Simone Harvey on Gift with 173 and third went to Jodi-Maree Maytom on Talawahl Star Baroness with a total score of 171.
The Most Successful Rider was won by John Hardie aboard Lethal Spinster with a score of 90 and second place went to Laurie Argue on Miss Okie with a score of 89.
