All 18 entrants in the Equestrian NSW 3* Class were accepted by the ground jury at the First Horse Inspection today at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre.

The Sydney International Three Day Event begins tomorrow with the dressage phase in what will be one of the most exciting Eventing contests Australia has seen since the Sydney Olympic Games were held at the same venue in 2000. This is one of the final opportunities for Eventing riders in Australia to impress selectors before they announce the team that will compete at the London Olympic Games that begin in less than 100 days.

Also on the program tomorrow are the Young Jumping Horse, Show Jumping and Equitation classes.

On Saturday Eventing competitors tackle a challenging cross county track created by the Sydney 2000 course designer Mike Etherington-Smith who returned to Sydney this year to give the 3* an impressive new look. Mike, one of the world’s leading cross country course designers, was the original course designer for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games. He was also responsible for the track at 2008 Olympic Games in Hong Kong. He was the Technical Delegate for the 2004 Athens Olympic Games and Technical Advisor for the 2006 World Equestrian Games (Germany). He was responsible for the course at the 2010 World Equestrian Games in Kentucky and has designed the four-star track at Kentucky for the past twenty years.

Mike, joined by Australia's Eventing legend Wayne Roycroft, will host a free cross country course walk on Saturday morning at 9:30am before action on course begins at 10:30am.

The Eventing competition will finish with Show Jumping on Sunday in what is always a fierce battle down to the last rider!

Following this will be the Greater Sydney World Cup Show Jumping Qualifier. A grand finish to an amazing three days of Equestrian competition.
