Another Fabulous Oxley Equestrian Day Had By All

Published on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 in Event Results

It may have been a bleak and cold day but hearts and spirits were kept warm by the wonderful atmosphere and positive attitudes of the competitors at last Sunday's Oxley Equestrian Day.  Over 100 riders and their horses braved the elements on Mother’s Day and a highly successful event took place once more.

High school students from as far as Bathurst travelled to the beautiful and popular Araluen for the competition and enjoyed every minute.  The Oxley Parents’ and Friends’ BBQers were kept busy cooking all day  and were accompanied by those manning the canteen who supplied delicious culinary creations for cold and hungry riders and their families.

A special Mother’s Day Lucky Horse Float Door Prize kept competitors wondering if they were going to be fortunate enough to take a prize home for their mum, as well as a ribbon.  Ten lucky competitors took home gifts for their mothers on Sunday.

The Champions on the day were;

Year Champion                                                              Reserve Champion

The Champion Oxley rider was Charlotte Waugh, a title befitting a student in her final year at the College.

Junior riders donned their pink hat covers and competently took on the role of Result Collectors.  They performed their task most admirably and braved many muddy creek crossings in order to get the information to the tally area.

Lenore Waugh, the event co-ordinator who is (unfortunately!) retiring from duties this year was extremely happy with the way the Day unfolded and received many positive emails from entrants both from Oxley and many other schools.  The Oxley community gratefully appreciates all Leonore’s hard work and experience in running the event over past years.  She will be sorely missed!

Much hard work and organisation went into the 2012 Oxley Equestrian Day but everyone will agree that it all paid off and we look forward to another one in 2013!
