The Australian Sports Pony Registry Inc has added yet another successful dressage competition to the EA calendar with an Open EA Dressage event held on Saturday 12 March at the Albury Wodonga Equestrian Centre. This event was run back to back with the Albury Wodonga Equestrian Association EA dressage competition on Sunday 13 March, which gave riders a fantastic weekend of dressage.

60 riders competed in 150 tests for the ASPR competition with many riders staying overnight for the next day's event. This was the first time the ASPR had hosted an event in country Victoria and the Albury Wodonga Equestrian Centre is certainly a top quality venue for riders located in north eastern Victoria. With ample yarding, undercover yards, good stabling, an excellent sand surface that can take 3 dressage arenas, as well as a very good grass surface that can take any amount of arenas, riders who had never attended the venue, were suitably impressed.

Winner of both the Prix St Georges and Inter 1 was Sara Love riding her 2010 Garryowen winner, Tulloch Ard. Entries for the FEI tests were very good for a competition held outside of the metro area with 6 horses in the  PSG and 3 in the Inter 1. Held late afternoon after all other classes had been completed, many riders took the opportunity to watch these classes and provided a very appreciative audience for the riders and horses who have spent many years training to reach this level.

The Advanced Champion winner was Emma Crocker riding Rolando, a 6 year old brown gelding by Regardez Moi and bred by Heath Ryan.

Winner of the Horsezone.com.au Medium Championship was Holly Parker riding the stunning chestnut mare, Sanguine. At 15.3hh, this lovely warmblood/stockorse cross mare is by Ego Gauss out of Sweet Charlotte. Reserve Champion went to Anne Sundblom riding Ecossais Mac Talla (Black Ice Jack/Curly Sue).

The super little coloured pony, Whynot Carbon Copy (Delaware Watchamacallit/Double Luck Copy Cat) ridden by Susanne Everitt won Champion Medium Pony.

The Equissage Therapy Elementary Championship was won by Eliza Mylon riding Overlander Caspian, a tall 17hh chestnut gelding by Cairo 869 and out of the Valuta mare, Valerie. The reserve title went to Bronwyn Zorzutti riding Happy Valley Finn (Zimran/Weiner Wald).

It was a delighted Jocelyn King that won Champion Elementary Pony with her Riding Pony mare, Burnham Brooke Bewitched by Chippenham Jaguar. This mare has only just moved up from novice and recently won the open section of the 2010 Bates Pony Dressage National Leaderboard. Reserve Champion went to Cobarb Cosmic, ridden at this event by Carla Giles and owned by Carlee Coombes.

Good entries were received in the novice section with Peta Wilson and her 10 year old gelding Felix Da Vinci taking out the Cedar Lodge Equine Lodge Products Novice Championship. Reserve was awarded to APH Lets Explore ridden by Nicole Whittaker.

Winning the Greystone Vacuums Novice Pony Championship was Acheron Zydeco ridden by Renee Paola. Reserve went to Kerrie Wise and Arremm.

The Cedar Lodge Equine Products Preliminary Championship was awarded to Sharon Potter and her grey mare, Diana. By Don Gregory, Diana was a convincing winner with scores of over 70% giving her wins in all 4 preliminary tests. Reserve went to the young but huge moving Heathmont Improsario, owned and ridden by Cathy Branson.

Winner of the Greystone Vacuums Preliminary Pony Championship was Miss Divine M ridden by Toni Pearce.

The championship for the Associate Preliminary class for riders 14 years & under was won by Chloe Hayden riding Misty with reserve awarded to Lucy May Crawford riding Love Me Eloise. Champion Associate Preliminary for riders 15 years & over was won by Andrea Williams riding Fiona Libriere's Gilgarra Guiness. Reserve went to Mary Baker on My Cyrano.

The ASPR takes this opportunity to sincerely thank our very generous sponsor and long time supporter, Cedar Lodge Equine Products for providing inscribed rugs for the open championships. Also many thanks for the continued generosity of International Animal Health Products who have donated product for ASPR events over the past several years.

First time sponsors of the ASPR and very generous with their support are Horsezone.com.au, Equissage Therapy (Qld), Mitavite, Horseland (Albury), North East Equissage, Brougham Park Warmbloods and the Hume Building Society. Riders were very happy and appreciative of the prizes supplied by these great companies.

For the past several months the ASPR has had an online auction for a Greystone Arena Rake, valued at $2,000. This terrific prize helped raise funds for the Albury event and the ASPR sincerely thanks Greystone Vacuums for their extremely generous support. With bidding now closed, the winner of the Greystone Arena Rake was Lucy Clyde. Lucy will now certainly be able to keep her dressage arena in tip top condition for her horses.
