[LEFT] Since 2008 The SEQAC has been a gracious host to legendary USA trainer, Mark Shaffer, on his Mechanics N Motion Tour of the globe. This year Mark's SEQAC clinic will be held from 6 - 8 November at the Burpengary Equestrian Centre and will be the first clinic on his 2010 Australian Tour.
"If you are serious about training and showing successfully in western performance, then this clinic is an absolute must! I attended the 2008 clinic and learned (and remembered - with Mark not listening or taking in what he's teaching is not an option!) more in 2 days than I had in 20 years. I followed Mark's training regime religiously at home and my horse's future performance and show results, were testimony to the success of the program," Jo Johnson, amateur western show competitor.
Mark's clinics are brilliant for amateurs but he is so well respected, that many of the attendees at the clinic are seasoned professional trainers, who have become ‘students’ to Mark, while he passes on the techniques he has used in his own training facility that has helped make him over 100X world champion western rider/trainer.
"I was already doing many of Mark's exercises but the way he puts them into an ordered training program makes it easier to teach horses and people. I was also most impressed with the third day of the clinic, which covers more advanced training that included driving and lungeing. I've since implemented driving and lungeing into the training regime of all the horses I work with, from green youngsters through to more seasoned campaigners," Leanne Bartlett, professional western trainer and show competitor.
Mark Shaffer’s Mechanics N Motion clinic is unlike any other clinic in the country. He has structured his clinics so they are distributed evenly over the course of the 3 days, meaning even as a fence sitter, every portion of the demonstration is equally as important as the last, you will not want to miss a thing. And he will make sure of it – with a great sense of humor Mark will diligently include all fence sitters into the clinic as if they are as important as the riders in the arena. As a rider, you will learn more than you can absorb over the 3 days. Mark will ride every horse present at the clinic which is often a huge buzz to the owners, but more importantly, helps Mark ‘show’ his techniques, rather than just explain them. The third day of Marks clinics are optional and they are more of a ‘specialty’ day.
To attend the Mechanics N Motion clinic, your horse does not need to be a finished show horse, what Mark teaches is precise fundamentals which can be applied to horses of all levels.
As those who attended the clinics in 2008 and 2009 will know, as a rider or fence sitter, Mark will give you 12 months support on everything covered in his clinic. He will offer this by email, phone or skype. He also provides (via email) the clinic structure in text.
Remember, numbers for riders will be limited (however, unlimited fence sitters). Stabling & Canteen facilities will be available. The 3 day clinic is closed to spectators, and is only open to paying riders and paying fence sitters.
The two-day clinic on 6 - 7 November is $500.00 in total per rider, which includes meals for the rider, stabling and camping for one horse for two nights. Each rider can bring one fence sitter free of charge.
Fence sitters are welcome at $50.00 per head per day.
The extra one-day clinic held on 8 November is a private clinic, which is only open to riders who attended the first two days or the two-day clinic the previous year. It is $300.00 which includes meals, stabling and camping for one night.
If you would like to join us for not just a great clinic, but a great weekend, please book asap. At the clinic there will be a selection of Mark's products for sale. Some of which he recommends using during training at home, which he will demonstrate. These items can also be ordered by us any time throughout the year.
