Auction Zone: Weownna Lodge Warmbloods
Weownna Lodge is a beautiful fifty acre training and breeding facility located in the peaceful Tamborine Valley,Queensland, which is managed by Lisa Koppman, a qualified EA NCA.S Level 1 General instructor, currently training towards her Level 2 EA NCAS General.
Lisa started breeding quality Warmbloods at a young age, purchasing her first broodmare when she was only 23 and has now been a breeder for over seven years. "I started out breeding horses to get exactly what I wanted to ride and it grew from there", says Lisa, "We don't stand a stallion at stud, which gives us the flexibility to breed our mares to the stallions that best suit each individual mare. I believe in breeding trainable horses with good temperaments, that anyone can ride."
Included in the Auction is Lot 1 Weownna Gym Junkie (Pictured left) a seven year old brown gelding by Gymnastic Star (Imp) out of the Silky Baby mare Line Of Grace. Gymnastik Star’s pedigree features the fourth generation double cross of the famous Gotthard and Wendekreis, the refinement and elasticity enhancing abilities of the great Cor de le Bryere and the reliability of the highly regarded Werther. This horse would make an ideal eventer as has proven to be very bold and brave from limited cross-country training. He is athletic over a fence while also having the movement to excel in the dressage arena.
Lot 2 Weownna Gunnamatta, who is a full sister to the above gelding is being offered with her dark bay colt Weownna Jamakin Magic, by Grand Prix stallion Jive Magic (pictured right). The mare was broken in before being put in foal and she was the nicest freshly broken horse Lisa says she has ever ridden - she simply floated along the ground. She is forward moving with big paces. The colt was born in October 2010, he is a beautiful upstanding foal and possible stallion prospect, he has a huge over-track at walk, a high hock and knee action in trot and a fantastic canter. He is athletic and agile suggesting he could be competitive in any of the Olympic disciplines. This is an amazing package, ride the mare while you watch the foal mature into a fantastic competition prospect.
Amongst the promising youngsters on offer is Lot 9 Weownna Rolex a two year old brown gelding by the dressage stallion Byalee Romance (by Regardez Moi) out of Cairncross Delilah. "Boy can he move!” is the typical reaction by onlookers who see this gelding trot. This horse is bred to perform the most difficult of movements with his eyes shut. Half sister (same dam) Weownna Black Magic (pictured left) is currently training medium/advanced as a six year old and is expected to be competing PSt George by the end of 2011, she is proving to be a reliable competition mount and extremely trainable. Black Magic placed fifth in the Young Horse Championships as a four year old amongst a mostly imported class. She has also won both Novice and Elementary championships.
Other horses included in the Auction include:
- Representation by such sires as recently imported Furst Love, Cavallo, Kamilaroi Regement, the imported/exported Hector and dressage sensation Lauries As.
- Quality mares, such as Cairncross Ester who was a highly credentialled performance mare prior to retiring to the broodmare paddock.
