Aussies Score at Reichert Celebration in USA!

Published on Sunday, September 11, 2011 in General

The Reichert Celebration, which ran from 2 - 11 September and is held in Forth Worth Texas, is possibly the biggest all breeds western show in the world, with huge money up for heaps of classes.  This year proved to be extra special for some very lucky Aussies, who hit pay dirt!

Queenslanders Janine and Henk Leichsenring (pictured), decided to treat themselves to a trip to the US this year and made sure they took in the Reichert Celebration during their visit.

Janine emailed me today with the following amazing news...

"Well Reicherts is the most amazing place! Here's a News Flash... we were sitting watching the sale a few hours ago and out of the blue the Auctioneer asked everyone to stand up. He then progressively asked people to sit down if they lived 5 miles from the show, then 10 miles and onwards until everyone sat down except us and two other groups... when asked where we came from we all were from Australia... JR Reichert then announced that anyone who came all the way from Australia to the Reichert Celebration deserved to receive a saddle!! So Henk and I and two other couples were presented with a saddle each.  I believe one couple were from Melbourne and the other from South Australia!  We were all so excited!!"

Janine then had to rush off, as the night program was commencing and included the $250,000 two year old western pleasure.  It seems everything is bigger in Texas - including the prize money at horse shows!

Janine and Henk wish to thank JR Reichert for his great generosity and and outstanding show, which they recommend to all horsey Australians as a 'must see' event.

We can't wait to hear more about it all on Janine's return, Meanwhile check out the fantastic Reichert Celebration website, which is full of information, including an extremely comprehensive daily newsletter.
