San Jose, the talented, up and coming Stallion owned by Matthew Dowsley, has passed away following colic surgery.

The young talented Hanoverian stallion, San Jose, has died following colic surgery.

San Jose was owned by Mathew Dowsley who bought the Sandro Hit/Rubenstein/Weltmeyer stallion as a young unbroken colt in Germany. The horse was imported and then broken in and was trained and competed solely with Matthew, culminating in winning the Champion of Champions at Dressage With The Stars 2010 where he gained a 10 for rideability from Ton De Ridder. He then repeated the win at the 2010 CDI in Sydney with a score of 8.5 for both rounds and Jorn Kubleke again giving enormous praise for his rideabilty and training.

At the CDI dressage Judges work shop Wim Ermes (NED) stated that “San Jose had to be considered as one of the best young horses in the world”

San Jose will be sadly missed, and in his short competitive career, (excluding any Young Horse Classes) where he only had 11 starts, he averaged a massive 75% !

San Jose has limited foals on the ground and his passing will certainly leave a void in Australias talent both in breeding and competition.

The ADC would like to extend their condolences to Matthew and all other connections on the loss of this lovely stallion.
