Australian Appaloosa Youth Association President - Texas Bound!

Published on Thursday, December 6, 2012 in General

17 year old Brittnee Thompson, a Newman Senior Technical College Year 12 student from Beechwood, has been chosen to represent the Australian Appaloosa Youth Association next June in Fort Worth, Texas, at the Appaloosa World Youth Show.

Brittnee has been riding competitively at State and National Level since she was 11 years old and holds many youth and open titles. She is the current NSW Senior Youth High Point winner. As well as these titles she also has held  many High Point awards at her local club - Eastcoast Appaloosa, Paint and Western Performance Association - based in Wauchope. Britnee can be seen at these club shows, on the third Sunday of the month, riding TS Breeze Will Do, owned by Meaghan and John Hennessy. TS Breeze Will Do is a 22 yr old leopard Appaloosa gelding. As of January next year, Britnee will also be competing on her own two year old, Stillwatersindaspenceable, aka Spencer, a blanketed bay gelding.

As well as attending school for year 12, Britnee has a traineeship at Rural Home Nursing Service, Wauchope and also has two other part time jobs. She is passionate about the Appaloosa breed, being the Youth Association President for the past two years. This position is to encourage other youth to register and compete on an Appaloosa, in any form of equestrian activity.

To attend the World Show, Brittnee needs to raise $6000, in sponsorship. Some businesses within the Hastings District have already donated goods and services for a monster raffle. Tickets are available by calling Brittnee on 02 6585 6013 and at various business houses throughout the area.

Sponsorship is being actively sought to help not only Brittnee but the other five young ladies that have been selected from around Australia. Anyone interested in sponsoring the Appaloosa Youth World Team can contact Brittnee’s mother, Pat, on 02 6585 6013 or Team Manager Debbie Holden on 0410 982 109.
