Over the Queens Birthday long weekend at Toorbul, 50km north of Brisbane the Australian FEI Endurance Championships 160km 3 star event was held.

Horsezone were one of the proud sponsors of this event.

The 2011 Champion was Queenslander Cora Becker riding Bones the Wizard (8hr 46min 34sec). She won in a gallop finish by 1/2 length over the 2010 Australian FEI Champion combination Victorian Kristie Taprell riding Kurrajong Concorde (8hr 46min 35sec). In 3rd place was Queenslander Jessica Langridge riding Tarrangower Crecendo riding time 8hr 47min 40sec.

The event was held on Sunday 12 June in wet conditions over a very muddy track. On Monday the sun was shining and Kristie Taprell's horse Kurrajong Concorde was awarded the prestigious Best Conditioned award. This award is based on the horses soundness, speed of heart rate recovery during the event and overall presentation.

Senior FEI officials and the chair of the Endurance FEI Committee Ruth Carlson (CAN) attended and officiated at the event.

Regarding the Winner: It's wonderful that while the Queensland State Appaloosa Championships - featuring Appaloosas in all English and Western disciplines - were being run in Toowoomba, at the same time an Appaloosa was winning this prestigious endurance event! What a versatile breed! Congratulations Cora and Bones the Wizard!
