Australian Maureen Milburn Wins Lifetime Achievement Award for her Contribution to Arabian Racing

Published on Thursday, March 22, 2012 in General

The Darley Awards 2012 ceremony was held on 4 March at the JW Marriott in Houston, Texas. The Awards, which are held annually, were founded in 1987 to honour the best in Arabian horse racing. This distinguished ceremony recognises the most outstanding racehorses, jockeys, owners, trainers and breeders of the Arabian horse racing community.

This year to add to the excitement of the evening, six new Awards were presented, including a special Lifetime Achievement Award, which was presented to Australian Arabian racing enthusiast, Maureen Milburn (pictured).

Maureen was presented with this Award due to the significant contributions to Arabian racing she has made over her lifetime, including instigating the return of Arabian horse racing to Australia, with the first Arabian horse race in more than a decade, the $20,000 Shadwell Mile for purebred Arabians, being held at Caulfield last November.
