Australian Turf Club (ATC) Security Patrol Course

Published on Thursday, September 22, 2011 in General

The Australian Turf Club (ATC) Security and Risk Division will conduct an intensive Mounted Security Patrol Course at Royal Randwick Racecourse. The four-day course will be at Royal Randwick Racecourse (Alison Road) commencing on Saturday, 12 November to Tuesday, 15 November 2011.

Continuing on from the success of Mounted Security patrols deployed at both Royal Randwick and Warwick Farm Racecourses and after intense planning and training, combined with formal Mounted Law Enforcement Training through the Southern Police Institute - University of Louisville USA, the ATC is able to offer training in this unique and specialised area.

Mounted Security is an excellent deterrent against anti-social behavior or criminal activity and businesses and students alike may benefit from the training as it embodies a tower of security visibility, standing 8 to 10 feet tall, creating a public relations instrument, thus the ultimate in venue and event security. A Mounted Security Operative, using the size of the horse and rider as a means of intimidation is the best non aggressive way to ensure compliance with the least use of force.

From high atop their horses, professionally trained Mounted Security provides crowd management as they patrol car parks, access points and event areas with the protection of people and property as the primary goal.

The contentof the four-day Mounted Security Patrol Coursehas a strong emphasis on practical training and formal qualifications in Mounted Law Enforcement and is designed to prepare students for a successful career working with horses in a Mounted Security capacity.
