Entries Open for the 2011 Melbourne International Three Day Event.

Equestrian Victoria (EV) is calling for entries for its prestigious Melbourne International Three-Day-Event (MI3DE), one of just four CCI 3* competitions held in Australia annually and a final qualifying opportunity for the 2012 London Olympic Games.

For the first time, the 2011 competition will include a CDI-W, a separate pure Dressage event of international prominence offering world class competitors an Olympic and World Cup qualifying opportunity.

Practice Dressage tests will be held on Friday, 10 June and competition will begin with the outdoor Grand Prix event on Saturday, 11 June followed by the Kur phase (Freestyle Dressage to music) on Sunday, 12 June.

Equestrian Victoria Chief Executive, Jackie Woodhead said, “The MI3DE is one of EV’s premier competitions to which we attract the best Australian and international horse and rider combinations. The proud history of the event will see its reputation continue as the training and qualifying ground for Olympic talent.

“The inclusion of the CDI-W to the event’s program showcases the MI3DE’s esteem as an international industry level event,” said Mrs Woodhead.

In addition to the program development, EV and its MI3DE subordinates have expanded the Cross Country course to encompass more of the picturesque Werribee Park precinct, including the beautiful State Rose Gardens and iconic farm on an improved track of added undulation and increased difficulty.

The oldest eventing competition in the Southern Hemisphere, the MI3DE has a rich Olympic history, and the 2011 event is to be no exception with competition expected to be fierce as Australia’s best eventers vie for a position on the coveted Australian Olympic Equestrian Team.

Riders should access the MI3DE website, http://equestrianvictoriaevents.com.au/Melbourne3DE/ for further competition information, including entry forms.

All other enquiries should be directed to the Event Secretary, Ute Raabe on 03 9013 0707 or m3de@equestrianvictoria.com.au
