Baradine Campdraft - Results, Photos & Video Interview

Baradine Campdraft, which was postponed in late May due to torrential rain, was held 16-17 June and Horsezone was a proud sponsor of this event.

900 nominations were received for this popular event, however, due to not having enough cattle in the small Baradine community for that many competitors, the committee was only able to accept 600 entries for the weekend. This resulted in 660 runs overall, with finals.

The weather was not particularly kind again and on Saturday night the rain came, causing cattle trucks that were moving stock to become bogged. The committee held a catered dinner for 180 guests that night and announced that unfortunately they probably wouldn't be able to finish the program, due to the rain and not being able to get stock into the grounds. On Sunday, however, luck was on everyone's side and the sun came out, meaning they could keep going and finish the event.

Baradine Campdraft started in 2000, as an event to raise funds for installation of lights at the local airstrip, so the flying doctor could land at night. The event has since continued on with its tradition of helping out the local community, by donating funds to the hospital, school and other needy enterprises.
