Beginner Western Training Day in Memory of Billie Maundrell: 27 April 2014

Published on Monday, March 17, 2014 in Training and Clinics

The WOODFORD AP & I ASSOCIATION INC is holding a Beginner Western Training Day, for Youth and Adults on Sunday 27 April at Woodford Showgrounds, in recognition of Billie Maundrell's involvement and lifelong passion of helping others, particularly youth and beginners.

The training day is being subsidised by funds donated by Pine Rivers Western Performance Club in honour of Billie Maundrell’s lifelong involvement in the horse industry. Bille was a founding member and trainer for the Club. Billie passed away in late 2012 and a decision was made last year to disband the Pine Rivers Western Performance Club. To finalise the closure, any funds held had to be distributed and because of their long term association with Billie as a competitor, judge and steward, the funds were donated to the Woodford AP & I Association.

The training day will commence at 8:00am and there will be 3 sessions in each ring - max 10 riders per session - each group of riders will rotate through all 3 rings.

Each session will include instruction followed by a judged class and comments from instructor - ribbons awarded to placegetters.

RING 1.  TRAIL - Instructor - ANNETT KERSLAKE - AQHA JUDGE

RING 2.  BASIC REINING - Scott Sutton - REINING TRAINER/JUDGE

RING 3.  WESTERN - Shane Massingham - AQHA JUDGE (including Showmanship, Western Horsemanship/Western Pleasure)

COST - $25 PER RIDER FOR THE DAY
