Boyd Martin True Prospect Recovery Fund
A fire early on Tuesday in the Pennsylvania barn of three-day eventer Boyd Martin has killed six horses. Three people suffered minor injuries in their efforts to free some of the horses in the barn.
Lillian, Caitlin and Ryan helped free five horses from the stables where 11 were believed to be living. They were then taken, treated and released from Jennersville Hospital, however have lost many personal belongings in the fire.
Australian-born Martin is now a resident of the USA and has been leasing the barn from American Olympic and World Equestrian Games team member Phillip Dutton's True Prospect Farm, located in West Grove.
An electrical fault is believed to have triggered the fire, which was burning fiercely and took firefighters more than two hours to get under control.
Four horses currently being treated at the New Bolton Center are which Martin's WEG mount Neville Bardos, Otis Barbotiere, Catch a Star and Ambassador's Rose.
The six horses that perished were Call Me Ollie, Charla, Ariel, Phantom Pursuit, Cagney Herself and Summer Breeze. Call Me Ollie, a thoroughbred, and Charla, a Holsteiner, had competed at international level.
All horses that survived have been relocated to other barns.
