Under a perfect spring sky, Pinto Horses of every size, shape and colour invaded the Caboolture Showgrounds on Sunday 11 September, for the 2011 Qld Pinto State Championships.

There were plenty of events for everyone with a wide range of led classes, dressage, harness and ridden events. Numbers were slightly down on last year, which was a shame but there were still plenty of lovely horses on show for judges Betty Thatcher and Helen Bentley.

Horsezone was one of the proud sponsors of the show and the Committee organised some lovely trophies, garlands and rugs for winners.

It was a relaxed and friendly day of competition and there were plenty of smiles and laughs shared with competitors between classes.  We had an enjoyable day chatting to Pinto people, taking photos and admiring the wide variety of glamorous, majestic and downright cute coloured horses!

One of the best things about Pinto shows is that there are so many different breeds of horses who are registered.  Horses being exhibited included beautiful Arabians; Gypsy Cobs; Paints; Heavy Horse, Thoroughbred and Warmblood crosses; Miniatures and plenty of different types of ponies.

Led events were divided into exceeding 14hh and not exceeding 14hh classes to assist the judges who have to judge such different types of horses against each other.  There were championships awarded for stallion, mare and gelding in the junior and senior (horse) division of each height group and then grand champion was chosen from these.

Led Grand Champion Results:

Junior Pinto to Mature over 14hh - Kah-Mah Aberation (Arabian x Warmblood) owned by Kerry Higham

Senior Pinto Exceeding 14hh - Tall Trees Talk of the Town (Arabian) owned by Gillian Beale (pictured above left)

Junior Pinto Not Exceeding 14hh - FL Indianna Double Magic (Miniature Horse) owned by Cassie Barclay

Senior Pinto Not Exceeding 14hh - Iris Amity (Miniature Pony) owned by Geoff Nalder

When it came time to choose Supreme Pinto Exhibit, the judges had a difficult decision to make and after much deliberation the winner was Miniature Horse FL Indianna Double Magic, owned by Cassie Barclay.

Other Championship results include:

Champion Harness Pinto - O'Bees Magpie owned by S O'Brien

Champion Pinto Under Saddle - Wordsmith owned by K Charlton
