Come Along to Coonamble Campdraft & Rodeo this Weekend!
The Coonamble Rodeo and Campdraft, billed as the largest combined rodeo and campdraft in the Southern Hemisphere, will be held this weekend (9-11 June) with plenty of excitement guaranteed!
Horsezone is proud to be sponsoring the Coonamble Campdraft again this year.
The campdraft competition takes place over the three days with over 1000 different horses competing. The 2000 event hosted the NSW Campdrafting Championships and the National Championships have also been held here in the past.
Running for over 56 years now, the Coonamble Rodeo and Campdraft is the largest event held each year in the town. In 2009 the event was recognised as a Regional Flagship event by Tourism NSW.
On the rodeo front, about 1000 cowboys and cowgirls, along with approximately 4000 spectators, will head across the central western plains of NSW to the edge of the Outback, transforming the Coonamble Showground into a full-on explosion of wild riding action.
On Saturday and Sunday, the rodeo cowboys launch from the chutes competing for over $30,000 worth of prize money in steer wrestling, calf roping, barrel racing and, of course, the glamour events of the saddle bronc, bareback and bull riding. On Monday the Junior Rodeo sees the up and coming stars of the Rodeo circuit compete.
The Rodeo is run by the Coonamble Rodeo Association and an unpaid volunteer committee.
