Copabella Classic Prize Pool Jumps Over $25,000
The winner of the Grand Prix at this year’s Copabella Classic will walk away with a cheque for $5,000. Total prizemoney for the class has been increased to $12,000 and the overall value of the prizes for the two-day event has climbed to almost $30,000.
The Copabella Classic is a premier showjumping event. Held on the Princess Anne Arena at St Ives in northern Sydney, the show attracts a wide range of competitors, from dedicated amateurs and juniors, through to professional riders who have represented
Australia at Olympic and World Cup level.
“It has always been a long term aim of the Classic to lift the prizemoney available to riders” said Alan Hargreaves of Copabella Sporthorses. “If they are going to compete on the world stage, they need to cover more than their petrol. The Copabella Classic is a not-for-profit exercise. Everything goes back into the sport”.
In 2010, the event drew record numbers of horses, riders and spectators. This year, spectator facilities will be upgraded, more support facilities will be provided and the VIP Marquee will be expanded. All classes are expected to be full and riders are encouraged
to file their entries as early as possible. Visitors wanting seats in the 5-Star marquee or Champagne Tent are advised to book soon.
