David Galvin Fundraiser Show - Day 1

Published on Wednesday, November 24, 2010 in Sponsored Shows

Saturday 27 November marked the first day of the David Galvin Fundraiser Show, held at Burpengary Equestrian Centre.

Day 1 featured Dressage, Hack and Novelty events. Due to overnight and early morning deluges (how typical for Qld this time of year?) numbers were a little down, however, this made for a lovely, fun and sociable day of showing for everyone involved, with plenty of encouragement from competitors and spectators alike. It was a really good day of light-hearted competition, which the judge and stewards fully participated in. As one competitor said, "I didn't see a sign on the gate saying 2010 Olympics!"

There were plenty of raffle tickets sold today and tonight is the dinner and auction, which includes a year's free advertising with Horsezone and many other great items. This should raise heaps of funds for David Galvin, the brave firefighter who was the main reason everyone was out with their horses or simply buying raffle tickets today...

David Galvin Fundraiser Show - Day 1 - Impressions:

Most impressive:

young dressage competitor who was terrified her pony would be spooked by the puddles in the arena but went in anyway and did a great job!

Goose bump material:

2 lovely chestnuts in Pair of Hacks who looked like Royal Show material, with their legs and riders in such perfect symmetry that they appeared as only one horse and rider from side on. Spooky!

Crowd pleaser:

Everything!! the enthusiastic crowd, were keen to applaud everyone for their efforts - positive thinking - that's what it was all about today!

What's in?

  • Laughing with your mates

  • Horses of all colours

  • Cheering each other on, no matter what!

  • making new friends in Pairs classes

  • Buying heaps of raffle tickets

  • Having fun with your horse and friends

  • Bribing the judge!? With fairy bread, of course - food of the day!

What's out?

  • only going in one class

  • saying 'no' to raffle tickets

  • taking it all too seriously
