EA representatives today joined the leading national sporting organisations from around the country for the unveiling of the new plan which outlines the ASC targets of Australia finishing a top five at the Olympics and Paralympics as well as have more than 20 world champions annually.
CEO of Equestrian Australia Grant Baldock said the new direction promised some exciting changes in the area of high performance.
“We are excited about the potential opportunities this will bring to our high performance program and look forward to working with the ASC and AIS further,” he said.
“The challenge for all sports is how they balance the twin goals of greater participation along with support for elite athletes and getting medals.
“From the review EA is conducting we believe we can manage both goals and in our view they are not mutually exclusive - you can do both.
“We look forward to working through today’s announcement with the ASC and how the additional opportunities may further support our riders prepare for Rio 2016 and beyond,” said Mr Baldock.
