Elf the Little Grey Pony - Now on Facebook and Appearing at the Qld Festival of Dressage

Published on Tuesday, June 28, 2011 in General

Further to our previous reports about Elf the little grey pony who was abused on Christmas day last year, he's now thriving at his new home with Jill Strachan and the Equine Learning for Futures equine and human team.  We interviewed Jill in March to find out more about the wonderful Equine Learning for Futures (ELF) program and Elf the pony (how's that for fate?) who she was caring for at the time.

Little Elf has been doing very well and now has his own Facebook page, which features recent photos showing Elf's adventures and even some "before" shots of his horrific injuries - plus plenty of wonderful comments from supporters and well-wishers.

As Jill said about Elf during our interview in March, "One word comes into my mind when I think of Elf - RESILIENCE.  This is his message – If I can do it so can you. We would like Elf to be ELF’s (Equine Learning for Future's) mascot and have students learn respect and leadership through working with him in our programs.  I am sure he will have a positive impact on all students he meets."

This sweet but strong little guy has certainly made an impression, not only on the Equine Learning for Future's students, but on all the people across the country who have heard his story.

If you would like to meet Elf, go along to the Qld Festival of Dressage this Saturday at Pine Lodge Equestrian Centre, Thornlands. Elf posted on Facebook on 22 June, "just got the word from the Dressage Festival Organisers that I am making an appearence in the morning of 2 July 'to sign autographs' (read... have lots of pats and snort on people)". Love you Elf!
