Beautiful weather, good crowds and some truly first class cross country riding meant that the 2011 Eventing Equestriad was a great day out for all involved.

Dressage leader Tim Boland on GV Billy Elliot managed to hold off the rivals over the Wayne Copping-designed cross country to win the Hume Coal CIC3*** class in a nail biting finish.

Tim was justifiably very excited after the win and was still buzzing after the presentation as he was fitted for his smart Musto jacket, part of the prize pack for the class, asking if he could have "Back in Business" added to the embroidery!

Of his steed Tim commented after the win, “He ticks all the boxes. He is good on the flat, sound and a terrific jumper, he is everything you want.”

Event organiser, Shane Rose and
Statford Novalis - who is for sale.

The combination’s next event will be the Melbourne CCI3* with London 2012 the ultimate goal.

“Following Melbourne I will aim Billy for Adelaide in November, this will be his first four star. He is inexperienced compared to other horses in contention for the Games, but hopefully his quality will shine through. I will throw everything at a shot at London.”

Emma Mason moved up the rankings after the showjumping to take second place and was thrilled to complete the event on her dressage score.

Christine Bates's exciting young horse, Adelaide Hill, secured third place and is looking to be a very competitive horse at the elite levels.

Horsezone Business Manager Haylie Martin popped out to check out the three star cross country on Sunday and was impressed with what she saw “The showgrounds were buzzing and there was a great atmosphere at the event with patrons clearly enjoying themselves in the hospitality marquee. Well done to Shane and his team in producing such a popular event.”

The tireless Peter Haynes (in the limelight) was on hand to catch the action.
