Equestrian Australia board appointment

Mr Leigh Clifford AO has joined the board of Equestrian Australia (EA). 

Mr Clifford is an experienced director. He is Chairman of Qantas Airways, Chairman of Bechtel Australia, a Director of Bechtel Inc USA and a Senior Adviser to KKR & Co. 

Mr Clifford was previously Chief Executive of Rio Tinto from 2000-2007 and his career with them spanned 37 years in Australia and overseas.  

An active supporter of the Arts, Mr Clifford is a Trustee of the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) and President of the NGV Foundation.  

Mr Clifford said, "My family have been involved in equestrian sport for many years in Australia and in the UK and I am delighted to continue that association."

Equestrian Australia Chairwoman, Judy Fasher said the Board welcomed Mr Clifford's appointment.

"Leigh is a highly accomplished member of the business community and we welcome him to the board of Equestrian Australia. His skills and expertise will be invaluable to our board and we are eager to receive his counsel."

In joining the EA Board Mr Clifford is filling a casual vacancy position and this term concludes in October 2018.
