Equestrian Australia Welcomes IRT as New Sponsor

Published on Tuesday, September 6, 2011 in General

Equestrian Australia (EA) is pleased to announce that International Racehorse Transport (IRT) has signed as an Official Support Partner for three years.

The sponsorship will see IRT as an official support partner across key EA projects such as the annual Sport Achievement Awards and the Equestrian Grand Final, as well as supporting seven major events around the country.

Equestrian Australia CEO, Grant Baldock, said this sponsorship is the first of its kind for the sport with EA now taking an active role in supporting key events through assistance in securing and servicing sponsors.

"We are pleased IRT are now part of the EA family. IRT has supported equestrian events in Australia for many years and has also been a wonderful service provider to the Australian Equestrian Team.

"This sponsorship has been made possible thanks to the collaboration with the various event organisers who have shown great support through offering potential sponsors a truly national partnership that will provide them with event exposure while also supporting broader national programs," said Mr Baldock.

Equestrian Australian and IRT have a long standing working relationship and this new partnership is an ideal fit for both organisations.

"After almost 40 years of unofficial affiliation, IRT are pleased to become the first and only Official International Transporter to Equestrian Australia," explains Chris Burke, IRT Operations Manager.

"IRT has moved horses for Equestrian Australia to every Olympics since we were established in 1972 and have been proud to assist in countless other logistics assignments in between.

"We see this new, formalised partnership as a great way to provide even better and more wide-reaching support to the Australian equine industry as a whole, an industry that has always supported IRT in equal measure.

"This is the first such commitment that IRT has made in Australia and we are delighted that it is with Equestrian Australia. We look forward to continuing and strengthening that bond, for the three years that this agreement covers and beyond," added Mr. Burke.
As part of the agreement IRT will continue to sponsor key major events including the Australian International Three-Day Event in Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney International Three-Day Events and the Sydney CDI.  In addition, they will also now support the National Dressage Championships, National Jumping Championships as well as the Weekend of World Cups.

Rose Read Event Director for Sydney International Three-Day Event is very pleased with the new arrangement.

"Securing sponsors is a challenging task for any voluntary organising committee like Sydney International Eventing, so to be able to work with Equestrian Australia in developing a national sponsorship agreement with IRT has been of great assistance to us.

"IRT has been a long term sponsor of the Sydney International Three-Day Event and we are very pleased to be able to continue this relationship for another three years thanks to the national agreement."

Equestrian Australia welcomes IRT on board and looks forward to a strong working relationship.
