The EQUITANA Australia Open Reining has provided a brilliant night of entertainment for the extremely eager crowd in attendance and one thing is for sure - it was certainly Queenslander Shaun Saunders' show! 

With scores of 213 Shaun placed equal first after outstanding performances on the two horses he rode, Ruf Major (owned by Kate Glover of Macrobi Farms) and QXH Docs Stylish Oak (owned by Darren and Emma Mullan of Xtreme Quarter Horses), while Warren Backhouse placed third on Shiny and Nu (owned by Pigeon Waters Quarter Horses). Both of the horses Shaun rode are based in Victoria.

Leanne Bartlett, one of the judges of the event, said that all horses worked well and overall the riders did a great job. The atmosphere was a little intimidating to some of the horses but most handled it. All horses did the best they could and gave good performances considering that the arena isn't really very big for reining.

A lot of Queensland competitors and their supporters travelled down to Equitana and they made a lot of enthusiastic noise during the competition!
